Moth Infestation Newbury

A customer in the Newbury area called us out to deal with carpet moths. The problems came to light when they were doing some Spring Cleaning at Easter. They initially thought there were only a few moths but the more furniture they moved- the more moths and larvae they found.

The moth larvae cause the damage in homes, living on the starch found in natural fibres.This means that woollen carpets and rugs are particularly at risk.

Apart from seeing the moths themselves which are about 1 centimetre long and a creamy light brown colour, look out for the larvae which take the form of white tubes about half a centimetre long.

In this case the larvae had stripped bare large patches of undisturbed carpet. The area below was under a wicker basket
