Sometimes obvious sometimes not so, rodents can be living in and around your property, especially at this time of the year. As this is the case, its best practice to be mindful of any signs that may suggest you have a rodent problem. From our first-hand experience, here are our top 4 signs of a potential rodent problem.
1. Droppings
Droppings usually point towards rodent activity. The only thing that suggests otherwise is if they happen to be old. If you find droppings, you should be able to distinguish what rodent they belong to yourself.
Mice- Small, dark brown & pellet shaped
Rat- A shiny black colour, larger than mouse droppings (1/2-3/4 inches long)
We suggest if the droppings are old and dried you should clear them up and keep an eye on the area for more activity. If the droppings are obviously fresh, then you should give us a call on 01635250852.
2. Chewing Marks & Noticeable Damage
Rodents like to chew and damage a variety of things within your property. Be it a squirrel messing up your loft insulation, mice chewing through WIFI cables or rats chewing and damaging timber. Rodents just love to chew!
If you notice any peculiar damage or potential access points that rodents could take to get into your property i.e., small hole in a wall, then give us a call on 01635250852 and we will identify the problem straight away.
3. Unpleasent Smell
Infestations are usually accompanied with a very strong smell of urine, which is particularly obvious in confined spaces where the rodent may have urinated. Ignoring such smell can cause the scent to become stronger for longer- and trust us you don’t want your house smelling like this!
4. Scratching
Typically, in the evening you may be hearing scratching or gnawing noises (like we mentioned previously). Hearing this constantly may be driving you crazy along with the sleep deprivation it is causing you. Best thing to do- give us a call straight away and we can rid you of the noise.
Experiencing any one of these things usually means you have a rodent problem of some scale. The best course of action is to identify if the problem is new- if so, get in contact with use straight away and we will be on hand to provide our expert consultation and service.
