Can Wasp Nests Always be Found in the Same Places?

Thursday, July 28, 2022

Typically, in the UK wasp nests can be found in wall cavities, roof eaves and under roof tiles. 90% of wasp nests we treat at Control Services are based in either one of these locations. However, if you can still see wasps around, but you can’t locate a nest in either of these locations that doesn’t mean there isn’t one nearby!

Most recently Martin came across a rather obscure nest located on top of the rear tyre of a car! As you can see in the image below the nest is well established and thriving in this new location.

The nest is a perfectly formed shape and you can see up close the outstanding architecture that goes into building a nest with the entrance point placed just above the tyre.

Seeing the placement of this nest had us thinking of some of the weirdest nests we have treated in our 10 years of wasp nest removal experience, here’s our top 3 below!

In a Bathroom

This nest was found in a bathroom at a boarding school, as you can see below the nest is situated inside the sink!

      Inside a Water Tank

This group of wasps decided a water tank was the best place to be during the hot summer!

          The Batman Nest

Not a location as such, but we can’t ignore how much this nest looks like the batman symbol- you wont be able to unsee it now!

So, remember wasp nests aren’t always obvious to spot, but an increase in consistent wasp activity probably means you have a nest located nearby. So don’t be afraid to check the strangest of places!
